Damnatio Memoriae

Description

A space opera in three acts that will take you to the ends of the galaxy, in the 27th century, in a universe that is both futuristic and dystopian where the simple fact of having a child can send you into the cold for many years...

Exit the death sentence, from now on, criminals are condemned to be forgotten, put in stasis for one hundred, two hundred, or even three hundred years, depending on the gravity of their crime, they return to "life" alone, without family, without friends, without anyone to help them overcome the trauma. Many do not survive...

Follow the adventures of Lysea, amnesiac after waking up from a sentence of 110 years of Sleep; her encounter with Théo, sentenced to 200 years of Sleep; with Bust, a strange human wreck whom life has mistreated, sentenced to 162 years of Sleep, as well as Vera, Olivia, Oliver and dozens of others.

Secrets after revelations, follow them in their daily lives as each tries, in their own way, to rebuild themselves in a world that is not and will never be theirs, among the "Normals", these humans exempt from any condemnation to Damnatio whose sharp remarks and looks say a lot about their state of mind concerning the "Unfrozen", those who were given "a second free chance when they should have died."

What if, in the end, the hardest part of the story was having to start living again remembering all the harm that was done in the past?

"We were not condemned to death; we were condemned to live."

Description

Summary

In the distant future, crime on Earth has led to the adoption of a radical punishment: Damnatio Memoriae, where the condemned are plunged into cryogenics for centuries, erased from history.

Lysea awakens after 110 years of Forced Sleep, with no memory of her crime. Transferred to the planet Dorea, she discovers a world where people like her are rejected, their identity reduced to a barcode tattooed on the back of their neck, and she must integrate into a society that despises her own kind...

On her journey to Espidar, she meets Theo, another criminal sentenced to 200 years of sleep for killing his father. Together, they try to understand their past and adapt to a society that keeps a close eye on them.

Between memory loss, political secrets and social tensions, Lysea will have to discover who she was... and what she is ready to become, at a high price.
